My thoughts on Nutella.
I find it really really odd that in the past few years it’s gained so much popularity. I was introduced to it in early childhood in Italy, probably summer 1997, and enjoyed it (though not as much as my cousin would eat nothing but nutella cornettos if my grandmother didn’t smack him upside the head and make him eat pasta). As children, if we wanted to enjoy Nutella in the States, we had to smuggle it in our suitcases.
When I was probably around 11 or 12, I first found Nutella in the U.S. at a market with my mother (more than likely a Bristol Farms or Trader Joe’s). I was pretty shocked (like when they started selling Fanta in the U.S. too, but that’s another story), and got it for my cousin’s upcoming birthday.
Then probably around junior or senior year of high school, I gradually started to hear everyone rave about it. It doesn’t bother me that they do, it’s just so odd to me. I’ve known about Nutella for awhile, and everyone is just recently discovering it. Kudos to them though, it IS pretty delicious… though it does taste slightly different than the Italian one >:)
